Helping International Talents Study and Stay in Tampere
Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) cooperates with International House Tampere and SIMHE (Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland) services to improve international students’ employability.
TAMK and other local actors in the Pirkanmaa region are collaborating to improve the employment of international degree students. Through these partnerships, many different service models have been developed in recent years.
“Often the help needed is cultural; what kind of CV and motivation letters are preferred by Finnish employers,” comments Mervi Kastari, Career Counselor in Tampere Universities community SIMHE.
Firstly, the Study and Stay programme that supports international students’ integration into Finland throughout their studies. Secondly, international talents arriving to Tampere can find support in their employment search through International House Tampere. The SIMHE services are available to help with recognizing foreign degree in relation to Finnish work-life and further developing skills through Finnish Higher Education.
“The cooperation between Tampere City and its universities ensures that international students here can have access to support that improves their chances of employment in their chosen field,” concludes Nick Cotton, Talent Advisor in International House Tampere.
