Support for starting the new job

The Good Job project offers language support and training to employers in Tampere and new employees to facilitate and speed up the onboarding phase. The project provides tools for improving language skills at work and supports employers in recruiting foreign-language employees. In addition, the project develops the guidance skills of those who provide guidance in plain Finnish.

We can organise a pre‑arrival information session online for at least ten employees arriving in Tampere. The session provides practical information about moving to Tampere. Contact us to arrange a session for your employees.

In a multilingual workplace, daily operations can sometimes pose a challenge. Instructions may be unclear, and onboarding may take longer than expected. In the Language Coach programme by Work in Finland, we train a member of your organisation to support your team in these situations. A Language Coach enhances communication, facilitates onboarding, and supports the development of an inclusive culture in an international environment.

International House Tampere’s Multilingual guidance service provides free, accessible guidance in Tampere for newcomers, offering advice on integration, local services, and daily life in up to 8 languages, including simple Finnish. The service is for residents in the Tampere Region Employment Area.

International House Tampere organises Welcome to Tampere events at International House four times a year. The event is aimed at international talents who have recently moved to Tampere and their families. We provide information about services that support settling in and share tips on integration. Services to support the family’s relocation

International House Tampere Employment services are responsible for statutory employment promotion services. They provide guidance and counselling related to employment, education and integration. Their customers are international residents living in Tampere who are in the early stages of their integration process. In addition, they serve jobseekers in the Tampere Region Employment Area who are in their integration period, as well as working-age individuals who are currently outside the labour force.

SIMHE (Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland) counselling by Tampere University of Applied Sciences is for you if you already live in Finland and have completed an upper secondary education, studied in higher education or completed a higher education degree. SIMHE counselling offers you information on application for higher education and related study possibilities as well as helps you recognise your prior learning. You can discuss your situation and plans with a SIMHE counsellor.

The Hidden Gems mentoring programme at Tampere University is intended for individuals who have moved to Tampere because of their spouse’s job. The programme supports the accompanying spouse in finding employment and integrating into the local community.
